I attended Felicity McWilliam and Charmaine Savage's workshop, it was a workshop regarding their book 'Celebrate Canberra - Activities for Kids'. The activities for within the book were all designed to be creative, fun and engaging for the children. The activities within the book are for a range of years levels, with a majority of the activities addressing Canberra's history and attractions. Felicity and Charmaine believe if activities don't appeal to themselves and aren't fun, engaging or creative why would they provide them to the children.
This workshop was for relief teachers, full time teachers and pre-service teachers, this allowed an opportunity to engage with other colleagues, share ideas and thoughts around the activities and workshops, such as ways in which one activity could be alter for a different age group. For example, myself and another pre-service colleague discussed the activity 'People Scape' and how it could be alter for Kindergarten - to replace the writing about their favourite hobbies and activities they could draw pictures of them (Standard 6.3)

Through regular professional experience teachers can learn and share new ideas, experiences and knowledge to help improve their teaching practice leading to improved student outcomes and an increase in student engagement. After attending the workshop it encouraged me to reflect on my practice and identify areas of improvement specially regarding activities and whether they are fun and engaging for children and would I ENJOY completing them (Standard 6.1). Upon reflection I decided that incorporation of more creativity into Mathematics and Literacy activity would help promote and improve student engagement and encourage their learning.
